Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen plans cultural activities for 50 years of Viet Nam–Thailand ties

Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh and his spouse met with the association’s Executive Committee to discuss plans for coordinating upcoming cultural and artistic programs.

At the meeting, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that overseas Vietnamese women have long played an important role in the cultural and spiritual life of the Vietnamese community in Thailand. He said the traditional ao dai not only highlights the beauty of Vietnamese women but also serves as a symbol of national identity, reflecting pride and deep ties to the homeland.

According to the Consul General, the establishment of the Viet Nam Ao Dai Culture Association in Thailand marked a meaningful milestone, demonstrating the Vietnamese community’s initiative and creativity in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values while helping introduce Viet Nam to Thai and international audiences.

Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh acknowledged and highly appreciated the association’s achievements, particularly its successful coordination in organizing the Viet Nam Ao Dai Cultural Festival as part of the Homeland Spring 2026 program hosted by the Consulate General. The event left a strong impression on overseas Vietnamese and international guests.

Looking ahead to activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam–Thailand diplomatic relations, the Consul General expressed hope that the association would continue working closely with the Consulate General to develop performance and cultural exchange programs, contributing to stronger people-to-people exchanges and further strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

On behalf of the Viet Nam Ao Dai Culture Association in Thailand, Chair Phan Thi Hong expressed appreciation for the support and close cooperation provided by the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Khon Kaen since the association’s establishment.

Phan Thi Hong said that, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam–Thailand diplomatic relations, the association has developed plans for several major activities scheduled for late August 2026. Among them, the first Viet Nam–Thailand Ao Dai Beauty Contest will be organized as an annual event to honor the beauty of women wearing the traditional costumes of both Viet Nam and Thailand.

In addition, the association is developing a program to mobilize more than 1,000 overseas Vietnamese to form the shape of Viet Nam’s national flag, aiming to promote solidarity, patriotism, and the community’s connection to their homeland.

The association also reaffirmed its commitment to coordinating with the Consulate General on a series of cultural diplomacy events, including the inauguration of the Viet Nam Studies Center, the Viet Nam–Thailand Cultural Festival, and various artistic exchange programs promoting traditional culture.

Through activities to preserve and promote the values of Viet Nam’s ao dai, the Viet Nam Ao Dai Culture Association in Thailand hopes to further enhance awareness of Vietnamese cultural identity, strengthen bonds within the overseas Vietnamese community, and make practical contributions to deepening Viet Nam–Thailand friendship in the years ahead.
