The Agriculture and Environment Magazine, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and Toyota Motor Viet Nam on October 2 organized a tree-planting program at Kim Dong Primary School – Van Thang Campus in Nong Cong commune, Thanh Hoa province, as part of the 2026 “Toyota joins hands to green schools” program.
The event was attended by Nguyen Thi Thuy Chi, Head of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department at Toyota Motor Viet Nam; Dang Lam Anh, an officer of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department at Toyota Motor Vietnam; and Pham Xuan Tu, Secretary of the Youth Union chapter of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine.
Local and school representatives included Do Xuan Thuan, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Division of Nong Cong Commune; Vu Thi Anh Tuyet, Principal of Kim Dong Primary School; Le Duy Dung, Vice Principal in charge of the Van Thang Campus; as well as teachers and students.
Greener school environments
The activity at Kim Dong Primary School – Van Thang Campus was part of the “Toyota – Green Viet Nam journey” program for 2025-2028, implemented under a cooperation agreement between Toyota Motor Vietnam and the Agriculture and Environment Magazine. The “Toyota joins hands to green schools” program aims to increase greenery at schools, improve school grounds and raise students’ awareness of environmental protection.
By planting trees on school grounds, the program seeks not only to improve the landscape but also to give students opportunities to interact directly with nature and develop an awareness of caring for trees and protecting the environment from an early age.
In Thanh Hoa, the 2026 program was implemented at three schools: Kim Dong Primary School – Van Thang Campus, Nong Cong Primary School and Nong Cong Secondary School – Minh Khoi Campus. Organizers planted more than 100 shade trees and presented nine stone benches to the three schools.
The activity builds on Toyota Viet Nam’s work with schools to promote greener educational environments. According to the program, since 2016, Toyota Viet Nam has carried out activities including tree planting at schools and building playgrounds from used tires, donating more than 10,000 trees and 12 playgrounds to 107 schools nationwide.
At the event, Pham Xuan Tu, Secretary of the Youth Union chapter of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine, said each tree planted was a practical contribution to creating a greener, cleaner and more attractive school environment. “We hope the trees will be cared for and protected by teachers and students, helping foster a love of nature, environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility toward the community,” he said. “The Agriculture and Environment Magazine looks forward to continuing to work with organizations and businesses on practical environmental initiatives for future generations.”
Nguyen Thi Thuy Chi, Head of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department at Toyota Motor Vietnam, said the company was pleased to continue working with the Agriculture and Environment Magazine through the “Toyota joins hands to green schools” program. “We hope the trees presented today will help create a cool and welcoming learning environment for students,” she said. “More importantly, the program aims to raise environmental awareness and encourage students to become ambassadors for greener lifestyles in their families and communities.”
Toyota Motor Viet Nam will continue to participate in environmental and community initiatives in Viet Nam, she said.
Environmental awareness starts at school
Vu Thi Anh Tuyet, Principal of Kim Dong Primary School, thanked the Agriculture and Environment Magazine and Toyota Motor Vietnam for donating trees to the Van Thang Campus.
“The trees will not only improve the school grounds but also serve as a practical educational tool to help students develop a love of nature and an awareness of environmental protection,” she said. “The school will arrange, care for and protect the trees while incorporating environmental education into teaching and student experiential activities.”
Assessing the significance of the program locally, Do Xuan Thuan, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Division of Nong Cong Commune, described it as a practical initiative that would improve school grounds and raise community awareness of environmental protection.
“Bringing trees to schools not only improves the landscape but also creates an environment in which students can develop habits of caring for and protecting trees,” he said. “The locality appreciates the support of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine and Toyota Motor Vietnam and hopes to see more initiatives focused on the environment and young people.”
At the ceremony, representatives of Toyota Motor Vietnam presented a symbolic sign representing the donated trees to representatives of Kim Dong Primary School – Van Thang Campus and its students. Representatives of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine, Toyota Vietnam, local authorities, the school’s management, teachers and students attended the presentation.
The program in Nong Cong also gave students an opportunity to understand that environmental protection can begin with practical actions, such as planting, caring for and protecting a tree on their school grounds.
In recent years, alongside their production and business activities, many businesses have placed greater emphasis on social and environmental responsibility. Cooperation among media organizations, businesses, schools and local authorities through programs such as “Toyota joins hands to green schools” can help mobilize additional social resources for environmental protection.
When environmental initiatives are implemented in schools, their value extends beyond the number of trees planted. Through caring for trees, students can develop positive habits, gain a better understanding of the role of trees in daily life and the environment, and gradually build awareness of greener living.

The “Toyota joins hands to green schools” program is part of the cooperation agreement between Toyota Motor Vietnam and the Agriculture and Environment Magazine to implement the “Toyota – Green Viet Nam journey” program for 2025-2028, with the aim of contributing to environmental improvement in Viet Nam.

With activities at three schools in Thanh Hoa Province in 2026, the program continues to expand efforts to create greener school environments by bringing together businesses, media organizations, local authorities and the education sector to build greener, more welcoming and sustainable learning environments for students.
