On December 9, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep received and expressed appreciation to S-TEC SYSTEM for its contribution of 110 million South Korean won (equivalent to VND 2 billion) to support flood-affected communities in Đắk Lắk Province.

Support mobilized from a South Korean company

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep highly praised the practical contribution, noting that it not only helps locals overcome immediate challenges but also strengthens the bond between the company and the Vietnamese community while enhancing S-TEC SYSTEM’s reputation and long-term prospects in the domestic market. He emphasized that South Korea has consistently been among the first countries to support Vietnam in the wake of severe natural disasters, and this contribution further underscores the close and trusting cooperation between the two nations.

The Deputy Minister confirmed that the entire emergency aid package of 110 million South Korean won (approximately VND 2 billion) will be delivered directly to households severely affected in Dak Lak, at a rate of VND 4.5 million per household, assisting them in overcoming immediate post-flood difficulties. The Department of Dyke Management and Flood Prevention coordinated with the Dak Lak Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to review, compile lists of affected households, and organize the aid distribution.

Mr. Lee Choong Yun shared that this donation reflects the compassion and solidarity of all S-TEC SYSTEM staff, with the goal of helping Vietnamese residents quickly overcome the impacts of natural disasters and restore stability. He emphasized: “In our investment activities in South Korea and Vietnam, we always aim to create sustainable value for communities alongside the company’s development objectives.”

Flood impacts in Dak Lak

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep, immediately following Typhoon No. 13, from November 15 to 21, 2025, Dak Lak experienced prolonged and widespread heavy rainfall, with recorded precipitation ranging from 400–1,000 mm, exceeding 1,100 mm in some areas. This event represents the largest flood in decades, surpassing the historic 1993 flood and exceeding the 100-year rainfall frequency.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep noted that the Ministry has assigned the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control to coordinate with Dak Lak province to ensure the assistance is delivered to the rightful beneficiaries.

The consequences were severe: 71 people were killed or went missing; 653 houses were destroyed, collapsed, or washed away; 1,050 homes sustained serious damage requiring repairs; thousands of hectares of rice paddies, fruit trees, and crops were damaged; and thousands of livestock and poultry perished. The total estimated damage amounts to approximately VND 5,000 billion.

The Vietnamese Government launched the “Quang Trung campaign”, with an urgent, rapid-response approach to rebuild homes for families who lost their residences and repair damaged structures. In this context, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep emphasized that support from S-TEC SYSTEM will significantly facilitate the swift and effective restoration of housing.

International support for Vietnam’s flood response

According to the Department of Dyke Management and Flood Prevention, as of December 6, 2025, foreign embassies and international organizations had provided or pledged assistance to provinces affected by Typhoons Nos. 10, 11, 12, 13 and subsequent flooding, with a total value of approximately USD 21 million.
