On June 24, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Viet Nam, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and key partners, convened a national consultation workshop on the draft Programme Implementation Plan (PIP) for the National Action Plan to transform the food system toward transparency, accountability, and sustainability by 2030. The event was held under the technical support framework of the United Nations SDG Joint Fund, and served as a key preparatory milestone for Viet Nam’s participation in the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit +4 (UNFSS+4) scheduled for July 2025 in Ethiopia.

As Vietnam accelerates its shift toward sustainable and low-emission agriculture, the working session held on June 18 between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung and representatives from ENI Vietnam marked a strategic turning point. The collaboration between a global bioenergy leader and Vietnam’s agricultural sector promises not only to add value to farm products but also to foster the green transition, promote circular economy models, and build a zero-emission agricultural system.

On June 6 in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province, the Agriculture and Environment Magazine (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), in collaboration with the Center for media development (Nhan Dan newspaper) and the Quang Binh Department of Agriculture and Environment, held a seminar titled “AI applications in journalism, cultural and environmental communication, and marine tourism development.”

During a working session on June 5 with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Cong Thanh, Mr. Selwin Hart, Special adviser to the UN Secretary-General on climate action and just transition, commended Vietnam’s strong efforts in restructuring its energy system toward a greener and more equitable model. He noted that Vietnam is emerging as a regional exemplar in ASEAN for its renewable energy development, sustainable climate transition, and strong commitment to updating its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and realizing the goals of the Paris Agreement.

In the context of global challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss, Vietnam and China are gradually translating their cooperation commitments in nature conservation into concrete actions, especially in border areas. The recent meeting between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tri, and Vice Governor of Qinghai Province (China), Mr. Liu Dao, on May 23rd, demonstrated the two countries’ strong commitment to fostering practical, sustainable, and long-term cooperation initiatives to protect ecosystems and support community livelihoods.

On May 21, Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam Do Duc Duy held a working session with French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet in Hanoi. The meeting reaffirmed the strong political will of both countries to deepen bilateral ties, especially in key areas such as sustainable agriculture, climate change adaptation, and human resource development.

On May 5, 2025, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Quoc Tri welcomed and held a working session with Rachel Kyte, the UK's Climate Change Envoy. The two sides focused on discussing measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in addressing climate change and supporting Vietnam in updating its third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

At the recently concluded Vietnam - ASEAN Economic Cooperation Forum 2025 held in Singapore, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between Minh Long (Minh Long Technology Development & Import Export Joint Stock Company) and the International Business Federation (IBF) Vietnam. The MoU was signed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen, Chairwoman of the Board of Minh Long, and Ms. Dang Minh Anh, Chairwoman of IBF Vietnam and CEO of the Institute for Innovation and Digital Transformation (VIDTI), under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.

In a pivotal ministerial discussion held as part of the P4G Summit on April 17, Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy called for accelerated, inclusive, and technology-driven transformation of global food systems, framing the Green Revolution 4.0 not as a choice, but as an urgent imperative.

On April 16, on the sidelines of the P4G Summit, a bilateral meeting took place between Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Mr. Do Duc Duy, and United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, marking a new step forward in international cooperation on climate change and sustainable development.

The discussion session "Unlocking opportunities in solid waste management and recycling in Vietnam" served as a platform to translate commitments into concrete actions, reinforcing cooperation between Belgium and Vietnam in this critical sector.

On April 1, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien met with a delegation from the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, led by Deputy Minister Ivan Smilgin, to discuss enhancing economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Belarus.

International cooperation plays a crucial role in addressing the challenges of climate change and water resource management in the Mekong River Basin. This message was emphasized by Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Do Duc Duy, during his meeting with Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, CEO of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat, on March 20.

Vietnam and Ireland are working to facilitate mutual market access for their agricultural products, particularly fruits, as part of broader efforts to enhance bilateral trade in the sector. This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting between Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Hoang Trung, and Ireland’s Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and the Marine, Noel Grealish, on March 13.

Vietnam is reaffirming its commitment to fostering a favorable investment environment for wind energy development, as highlighted during a recent meeting between Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy and Mr. Nate Franklin, Founder and CEO of Pacifico Energy, a leading U.S. renewable energy corporation.

On March 12, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien hosted a working session with the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Conference, led by Secretary-General Li Xiudan. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to deepening their collaboration in mineral exploration and mining technology, with a focus on sustainability and environmental protection.

On March 12, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy held talks with Mr. Tsutomu Takebe, a member of the Board of Trustees of Vietnam - Japan University and former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Japan. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in developing high-quality human resources for Vietnam’s agricultural sector, with Japan serving as a key partner in training, technology transfer, and business management in agriculture.
