Agriculture and Environment Magazine plants 405 trees at Linh Son pagoda under ‘Green pagoda’ program

On July 10, the Agriculture and Environment Magazine planted 405 trees at Linh Son pagoda in Lai Chau province under its "Green pagoda" environmental initiative to promote environmental protection, help create greener, cleaner surroundings, and support sustainable development. The program was organized with the support of Tri Duc LC Co., Ltd.

Attending the event were Venerable Thich Minh Nhat, Member of the Executive Council of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha and Standing Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha in Lai Chau Province; Dr. Dao Xuan Hung, Editor-in-Chief of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine; Vu Minh Ly, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine; Associate Professor Dr. Pham Anh Tuan, former Director General of the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology; Pham Trung Tinh, Director of the Forest Protection Sub-Department of Lai Chau Province; Mua A Minh, Deputy Head of the Internal Security Division of Lai Chau Provincial Police; Hoang Thi Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Tan Phong Ward; Le Van Chieu, representing Tri Duc LC Co., Ltd.; together with representatives of local Party and government agencies, Youth Union members, students and residents of Tan Phong Ward.

The "Green pagoda" program was held at Linh Son pagoda in Lai Chau province

For many years, the Agriculture and Environment Magazine has organized the "Green pagoda" program in provinces and cities across Viet Nam. The initiative has evolved beyond tree planting into a community effort to promote environmentally responsible lifestyles and encourage greater public participation in environmental protection. This year, Linh Son pagoda in Lai Chau became the program's latest destination.

Organizers expressed the hope that every sapling planted would grow for generations, serving as a lasting reminder that meaningful environmental action often begins with simple acts

Addressing the event, Dr. Dao Xuan Hung, Editor-in-Chief of the Agriculture and Environment Magazine, outlined the program's goal of raising public awareness of tree planting and environmental protection

Dr. Dao Xuan Hung said the initiative was a community-based program with strong community value, encouraging organizations and individuals to participate in tree planting and expand green spaces at historical relic sites, temples and pagodas. The program also seeks to improve the living environment, enhance landscapes and promote environmental awareness

Le Van Chieu, representing Tri Duc LC Co., Ltd., said the company was honored to support the Agriculture and Environment Magazine in organizing the tree-planting event at Linh Son Pagoda. The company donated 405 trees, including Podocarpus (Buddhist pine), pear, jackfruit, Chukrasia tabularis and mango trees, to help create greener surroundings, protect the environment and spread positive values throughout the community

Venerable Thich Minh Nhat, Member of the Executive Council of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha and Standing Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha in Lai Chau province, said the "Green pagoda" program embodied Buddhist compassion and a shared sense of responsibility for protecting the environment while promoting harmony with nature

The program also served as a meaningful community initiative, encouraging organizations and individuals to participate in tree planting and create green spaces at historical relic sites, temples and pagodas

On behalf of the organizers, Dr. Dao Xuan Hung and Le Van Chieu presented trees to Linh Son Pagoda and the Forest Protection Sub-Department of Lai Chau Province

Organizers expressed the hope that the newly planted trees would not only provide shade and enhance the pagoda's landscape, but also inspire future generations to value nature, environmental responsibility and sustainable living

Linh Son pagoda is situated on a hilltop in Tan Phong ward, surrounded by rolling hills and a lake, offering a picturesque natural setting

Newly planted Podocarpus (Buddhist pine), pear, jackfruit and Chukrasia tabularis trees helped create a tranquil and green landscape at Linh Son Pagoda

The program promoted tree planting, forest development, the conservation of native and economically valuable fruit tree species, and the cultivation of high-value medicinal plants beneath forest canopies in support of community-based tourism, a green economy and improved livelihoods

With continued care from the pagoda and the local community, the young trees are expected to thrive and provide shade for years to come
